Kathmandu: Children under five years of age in Nepal are receiving Vitamin 'A' and deworming tablets as part of a national health program. The National Vitamin 'A' program, led by the Ministry of Health and Population, aims to ensure the well-being of young children.
Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of the Child Health and Immunization Section at the Department of Health Services, explained that children between the ages of six months and five years will receive Vitamin 'A' and deworming tablets through the efforts of women health volunteers deployed nationwide.
The initial phase of the Vitamin 'A' campaign was originally scheduled for October 19 and 20 but had to be postponed due to the Dashain vacation. It is now being carried out on these days to provide this essential nutritional support to approximately 2.7 million children, with Vitamin 'A' and deworming tablets being administered to 2.4 million of them.
